I have Google Apps setup for "domain.com". I'd like to receive mail at "user@mail.domain.com" how can I do this?
-
You can set this up as either an alias domain on your existing Apps account or as a new Apps account, entering mail.domain.com as the domain in the set up process
You will need to set up the correct DNS records against mail.domain.com.
With an Apps domain alias all users are mirrored, i.e.:
mail for
user1@mail.domain.comwill be recieved byuser1@domain.commail for
user2@mail.domain.comwill be recieved byuser2@domain.comThis is all done automatically for you once the alias is set up.
To set it up as an alias:
Log into you Google Apps dashboard
Click
Domain SettingsClick
Domain NamesClick
Add a domain aliasEnter
mail.domain.comin the textboxClick
Continue and verify domain ownershipContinue the process as you would an SLD
x3ja : But watch out that when you send from user@mail.domain.com people you send to will get an "On Behalf Of" message displayed in certain clients - something like "From user@domain.com On Behalf Of user@mail.domain.com". To remedy this, see this question: http://webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/196/how-do-i-get-rid-of-on-behalf-of-from-my-sent-gmail-messagesFrom Shevek -
There are many how-tos out there.
You can find one here:

Basically you.
- Sign up for google apps.
- Setup your domain in google apps.
- Change the MX records of your domain to point to the google mail exchange servers.
That is just a really high level overview of the procedure. Google apps provides lots of help in their FAQ site.
Senseful : The question was specifically about how to do it with a subdomain if I already have Google Apps for a domain setup. From feniix -
Shevek is right. You can also search for google apps vendor, if you need professional help or advice.
